DESCRIPTION:Blessings to you all for this Sunday’s service! \nVisits from loving followers of Jesus to people’s homes\, visits in hospital\, or visits to institutions and other settings can be truly life giving. There is something so special about knowing that someone has thought of you enough to want to see you and wants to come into your world in some way. Even if the visit is brief to drop off food or gifts\, it means a lot to many of us just to be thought of. \nWhen Jesus teaches his disciples at the very end of Matthew chapter 10\, he reminds them that there is another spiritual dynamic at play in visiting. With each of Jesus’ ‘little ones’ or ‘the least of these’ of all his disciples\, Jesus equips them with spiritual blessings and gifts to give to those who extend their hand of welcome. Put simply\, with every visit that happens\, Jesus comes too\, and he is a major part of that visit. So much so\, that sometimes people who have spiritual opposition to God can reject the Christian visitor simply because of the One who comes with them. \nBut for those who don’t know God who might make the move to offer even a ‘cup of cold water’ of love and hospitality to one of Jesus’ disciples\, will find that they may receive something truly special from the Lord Jesus. That cup of cold water also can occur the other way round too\, as visitors of the Lord Jesus can bring that cold refreshing spiritual water to those who are thirsty and in need. We all need to be prepared to visit each other more in love and in the Lord’s name. I especially want to pray too in this current climate that our pastoral care and visitation will not only help people feel loved but also will give more opportunities for people to share their deeper struggles as well. \nPastor Matt \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:As we near the end of Matthew chapter 10 we encounter some of the more hard hitting instructions of Jesus to his disciples\, as he not only gives comfort to them about how precious and important they are to God (hairs of their heads are all numbered)\, but also addresses the difficult complexities of families\, mission and following him. Jesus does not hide the fact that following him can create relationship changes in families where they can become divided and torn apart. With such situations like this it can be understood why some followers of Jesus might start to think twice about the risks and blessings of following the Lord. \nBut Jesus offers comfort in these situations by reminding us that suffering with him and taking up our cross is about giving up our life as we receive his life. In our faith walk\, our crosses are our various pains\, struggles\, early traumas and hurts; things we may have carried with us for a long time. But rather than those crosses simply being or burdens that serve no purpose\, God uses those crosses to help us become ‘wounded healers’ to others. This is where our old pain and hurts can be instruments of mission to reach others for Christ. For all people have the scratches\, cuts and scars of living in this broken world\, and all deep down long for a God to soothe their pain and wipe away their tears. As God’s children in your missional circles to visit and connect with families\, neighbours\, work colleagues and friends you have something to offer the broken; not just your wounds and hurts but the hope you have in Jesus who can do something about those wounds. \nSo the next time you think you haven’t got what is needed for mission\, or you are too anxious about what to say or do\, just gently befriend a stranger in love and listen to their story and pray for God to make openings in conversation and be prepared to show vulnerability and humility. We don’t have it all together as Christians and we aren’t perfect\, but we have Jesus who not only shoulders our burdens\, forgives our sins but also makes those thorns and crosses we carry to be used in loving service and mission through the Spirit. \nPastor Matt \n  \nP.S Below is lovely goodbye video to members of Trinity Pasadena from Goldy\, Junes and their children as they return home to Indonesia following their time in Adelaide and with the ICFA. DESCRIPTION:Blessings to you all for Trinity Sunday this week\, and may you be filled with the Lord’s joy as you worship the Lord with us. Our theme for our service will be the Great Commission of Jesus in Matthew 28:16-20\, and in the message I’ll be looking at how the Trinity is involved in gently increasing our ever widening circles of mission. Like space probes using gravity to slingshot us further out\, we participate with the whole Trinity in mission as he increases our circles from smaller ones to larger ones. I want to encourage all of you as you explore the message this week to know that mission does not have to be seen as such a massive project and initiative that it scares us into inaction. It starts with simple visits to people like new neighbours\, offering gifts\, a cup of tea\, sharing with them that you have a faith\, and being patient as relationships grow. This pattern of going out intentionally to bless people who might be strangers and then coming home again is a regular circle of mission that God encourages us all to do! \n

DESCRIPTION:Hi everyone\, \nHappy Birthday Church! It’s Pentecost Sunday\, our celebration of the birth of the worldwide church! We’ve got lots for you all this week with many special filmed birthday greetings from within our Trinity Community and friends from afar\, a video with music from the ICFA\, Pastor Ani leading the service and the conclusion of Part 4 of our sermon series on Galatians: ‘Walk by the Spirit’ preached by Pastor Matt. We’ve also concluded the service with a lovely praise and blessing hymn to the tune of ‘Old One Hundredth’ in Indonesian and English. \nI must draw your attention to the fantastic effort of so many of our community who have submitted video greetings for this service; in various languages\, from all ages and all very creative too! It is such a wonderful collage of our church\, and it has given us a wonderful opportunity to be together through the Holy Spirit despite being separated. \nEnjoy this wonderful celebration of our church family\, and the tremendous gift of the Holy Spirit who gave birth to the church 2\,000 years ago. May we all continue to walk by the Spirit\, as the sinful nature has been crucified in Christ and has no hold on us. May his peace and joy fill your hearts today\, now and always.
