Hi Friends!
Blessings to you all as you watch our service with a number of contributions of our people this week including our pastoral student Joel who is the leading the service. For this Sunday we have sung worship with ‘How deep the Father’s love’, a Scottish setting of Psalm 121, readings, prayers and Creed, and we have also reached the heart and soul of the letter to the Galatians in part 3 of our sermon series this week from Pastor Matt.
This week you’ll find the message speaking into the realm of daily Christian experience as it highlights the daily battle with an overactive law which the evil one uses to try and destroy our freedom in Christ. He even tries to pretend to be Jesus and deceive us into believing that doing good works, managing ourselves properly and doing the right thing is what makes God love us more. Even if we know in our hearts that our righteousness is through Christ, there are times where our daily thinking patterns might reflect a different idea.
During this time of COVID-19 many of us have much more time to think about things, which also means more time for the evil one to ‘mudsling’ all the bad things he knows about you so he can slowly wear you down; as he holds the law in your face to remind you how much you are failing the Lord Jesus. Resist him! Remember who you are truly yoked to, ignore the enemy’s taunts, and know that your sins and faults are under the Lordship of Jesus and he will work on those things with you in his own way and in his own time. Remember too that Jesus is not our accuser and condemner but our comforter and saviour. His voice builds up and strengthens whereas the voice of the evil one tears down and destroys. May you be blessed by this time with Jesus as you find your protection and refuge in him and continue to walk in your freedom which was bought for you through Jesus’ blood.
I have also included below some prayers from this Sunday’s sermon and also a ‘to do list’ of things that might be bothering you inside for you to write down in your devotion time. Also, on a separate list you can also write down painful things about yourself that the enemy and your own conscience likes to throw in front of your face constantly. These might be things about your personality you don’t like, or things people say about you, or even things you’ve done or not done that you feel ashamed of. But on this list, everything you write down will be then given as a prayer and request for Jesus to deal with it and be Lord and master over it.
Prayers and listing your troubles before the Lord
